Fly Type: Salmon Flies,
Recommended Region: Other,
Imitation: Stone Flies,
The materials and tying methods for this fly are identicle to tying the Nymph version of this fly (also in this database) the only exception is creating the wings; I sandwich small sections of animal hair and stripped quills between two sheets of clear Raffene. I coat each side of the Raffene with Lureflash featherweld which is varnish used to repair Jungle Cock feathers.....it works great for realistic wings!!
Tying Instructions: I insert a natural tan japanese nymph leg int othe thick butt section of a porcupine guard hair, this helps to create great looking mouthparts!
Presentation Tips: The second (mating) image that you see is a much simplified version of this fly, the body is created using Flexibody whilst the wings are: "Close To Nature Presentation wings".
