Stockard store. Tying Instructions: 1. Cut 2 lengths of lead wire slightly shorter than the hook shank and secure them on each side of hook. This will provide a slightly flat appearance to the nymph. 2. Attach tail fibers, ribbing wire and nymph skin at the narrow end. 3. Dub the body with the a dubbing loop 2/3 toward the eye. 4. Attach the aftershaft (facing rearward) by tying it off at the base of the feather. (There is no need to secure the feather at the tail) 5. Bring the nymph skin forward, making sure the aftershaft is centered and tie it off. 6. Start wrapping the gold rib forward while paying attention not to pinch any of the aftershaft in the process. Tie off and trim the rib. 7. Fold the skin toward the back of the fly and overlap it about 1/16 - 1/32" and tie it down. This will give the tail and wingcase a sectional appearance. 8. Dub the thorax and attach the soft hackle. 9. Wrap the hackle approximately 2 turns while stroking the fibers down and back. Tie off. 10. Bring the skin forward for the wingcase while making sure the hackle is equal on both sides. 11. Whip finish and cement. Presentation Tips: This is a simplified version of tying gills on larger wigglers. Thanks to Jack Gartside Mayfly larvae primarily live in soft bottom, but can be found anywhere after a high water event. It should be fished near bottom | Other Flies Tied by Shoe
