Really Real Ringneck

tied by deeky
Fly Type: Wet,
Target Species: Panfish,
Recommended Region: Central US,
Imitation: Mayflies,
Material List:
Hook: Mustad 3399, size 8
Thread: Danville Flymaster 6/0, brown
Tail: Ringneck tail fibers, tied long
Rib: Copper wire
Body: Ringneck tail fibers
Throat: Ringneck breast feather
Underwing: Ringneck rump feather (irridescent blue/green)
Overwing: Ringneck shoulder feather
Head: Ultra Wire brassie size, green
Tying Instructions: The bulk of it is fairly standard. Just tie the tail long (think a good rooster tail). Then tie the underwing a little long and the overwing a little short to get the separation between the two. For the head, tie in a length of wire with the tag sticking out over the eye of the hook. Whip and snip the thread. Form a loop in the wire and perform a neat whip finish over the head thread. Pull the tag of wire tight and snip.
