Emerging Zebra

tied by [email protected]
Fly Type: Terrestrials & Midges,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: Northeast US,
Material List:
Black 8/0 Uni
Gold wire / Silver wire
White CDC
Size 14 - 22 hook
Black dubbing
Tying Instructions: Tie in thread than tie in your choice of wire and bring back around the bend in the hook.
Bring thread 2/3rd's of the way back up the shank than wrap wire forward using 4 or 5 wraps and tie off.
Next pluck a CDC feather (one side) for its hurls and tie them in where the thorax would be. Your CDC should be pointing towards the back of the hook.
Make some smooth wraps with your thread over the CDC ends to make the thorax. Trim butt ends of CDC if needed.
Next use a very small amount of dubbing, just enough to give the thorax a thicker, fuzzy look.
Bring tips of CDC forward and wrap over top of the CDC twice then under the CDC between the herls and the eye of the hook.
Whip finish in front of the thorax and add a small drop of cement.
Presentation Tips: Can be fished either in the surface film or in the water column and can also be fished like a nymph.

May want to use as a dropper behind a larger fly so it easier to see what is going on.
