Free swimming caddis larva![]() tied by david_owilliams@hotmail.co Fly Type: Nymphs, Target Species: Trout, Recommended Region: Northeast US, Imitation: Caddis Flies, Material List: Curved nymph hook Brass bead (can also use lead or lead free wire for extra weight or no weight at all) 8/0 thread to match the larva (usually tan or olive) Light tan (or light olive) life cycle dubbing for body Brown life cycle dubbing for head Tying Instructions: 1)Prepare your hook with the bead and or wire 2)Tie in thread and wrap back around the cure of the hook 3)Add dubbing by using the touch dubbing method and wind it forward to imitate the body making sure to become larger towards the front of the hook. 4)Add some brown dubbing loosely to the thread and make the head 5)Whip finish behind the bead and cut off the thread 6)Take a dubbing needle and pick out the dubbing used for the head and than use a dubbing brush or velcro and comb it back. 7)Add a drop of head cement and away you go.
