Micro Spawn

tied by Scott E. Smith
Fly Type: Egg/Sac,
Target Species: Trout,
Material List:
Any heavy scud hook, size 10-16
6/0 thread to match yarn color
Any egg yarn
Tying Instructions: Lay down a base of thread and return to 1/8" on the eye. Tie in yarn. Firmly secure it all the way back to the back of the fly (see pic for reference). With your right hand, push the yarn back toward the vise. Hold this ball with your left hand and ti the tag end of the yarn firmly to the hook shank. Lift the tag and add a couple of wraps under it to secure things. Now push the yarn back again with your right hand, but this time make the fold a little bigger. Secure as before. Repeat getting larger folds until the 1/ way point, then taper back down. Leave room near the eye for trimming and whip finish.
Presentation Tips: This is a sucker spawn fly, so dead drift it along the bottom.
