JF's Big Steel Meal

tied by TIER
Fly Type: Egg/Sac,
Target Species: Steelhead,
Recommended Region: Alaska,
Imitation: General Baitfish,
Material List:
Two colors of yarn
size 12 hook
gold bead
red thread
Soft milking egg
Tying Instructions: Make a thread base on a, then at then at the back wrap in with one wrap a piece of yarn on the bottom of the hook. Take some more yarn and pull it apart until you have two halves. Do the same to the other color of marabou and stack both the colored halves on top of each other. Wrap them in with two wraps, securing both the bottom and top layer. Go to the front of the fly. Repeat that again when you are at about 1/4 of the hook shank away from the eye. To trim the yarn pull up on it and snip it about 3/4ths of a hook shank away from the hook. Trim and go to behind the bead. Then take the soft milking egg and spread it out. Fold it on your thread and trim as necessary. Do 4 half hitches (they are more effective than a whip finish in this situation.) and snip your thread.
Presentation Tips: All you have to do is cast out and let it drift in the current. Happy fly fishing!
