Thin Skin BWO Nymph
tied by Michigan Trout Guy
Fly Type: Nymphs,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: Northeast US,
Hook: Size 16-20 (this one was done on a size 16)
Thread: Black or Brown 6/0
Tail: Dun hackle fibers
Body: Tan or creme dubbing
Shellback: Mottled Thin Skin
Wingcase: Black Flash Back
Tying Instructions: Tie in tail, then thin skin. Dub a body up to about the 60% spot on the hook shank. Bring thin skin shell back forward and tie off here.
Tie in flash back wing case. Tie on dun hackle and make 2 or 3 turns. Tie off and trim. Clip the top of the hackle to make room for the wing case.
Pull flash back over thorax, tie off and clip, whip finish and cement.
Presentation Tips: I asked for some BWO patterns, but I decided just to make some up.
Fish this dead drift.
