Dunkeld (slim)

tied by Alex_F
Fly Type: Wet,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: General Europe,
Material List:
Hook: Captain Hamilton wet or similar, #6-12.

Silk: Brown

Tail: Golden Pheasant crest.

Body: Flat gold tinsel.

Rib: Fine gold wire.

Hackle: Orange cock or hen.

Wing: Bronze Mallard flank paired or rolled.

Cheeks: (optional) Jungle Cock.
Tying Instructions: The original Dunkeld was a built wing Salmon pattern. Like a number of Salmon flies it had a scaled down Trout and Sea Trout counterpart. The standard Trout Dunkeld has a orange palmered body hackle, this version dispenses with that in order to slim down the profile.
Presentation Tips: Used as a heavy 'anchor' fly on a three fly cast. Very handy in a daphnia (water flea) bloom where orange flies get results. Also useful as a small fry pattern.
