BDH'S Twilight Zone Popper

tied by Big Daddy Hubbard
Fly Type: Poppers/Sliders,
Target Species: Freshwater Bass,
Recommended Region: Southeast US,
Imitation: General Baitfish,
Material List*:
Hand sanded balsa body; sanded to suit body style preference

Testors acrylic paints for the body; Epoxy topcoat-90 minute. 8/0 thread to secure hackles and Flashabou Tail. 8/0 is easier to hide than bulkier threads and doesn't compress hackle fibers
*Materials with links give you direct access to that product at the J. Stockard store.
Tying Instructions: After sanding the body, secure to a Wide Gap or Mustad Kink Shank Popper hook....this was done on a sz 2 Mustad. Paint your body to you own preference and scheme. Epoxy and let cure for at least 2hrs. Dress tail according to your liking and your ready for some deadly topwater action!
Presentation Tips: Best if fished during the "twilight times" of the day. The pruple and Flo Yellow are great contrasts and the yello seems to glow in the dimness....makes it a hell of a lot easier to see in low light conditions. Fish as you would any traditional popper or with erratic strips for viloent water displacement
