Bill's Hellgrammite

tied by Pujic
Fly Type: Nymphs,
Target Species: Freshwater Bass,
Recommended Region: Other,
Imitation: Leeches,
Material List*:
Hook: Mustad streamer 2xl long hook, size 6 through 2.

Body and tail: Bill Skilton's marabou chenile - brown.

Underbody: Lead Wire under brown Furry Foam.

Wingcase and head: Bill's black stretchy foam.
*Materials with links give you direct access to that product at the J. Stockard store.
Tying Instructions: Very simple to tie. Create an underbody using lead wire and furry foam (you want this sucker to sink).

Tie in a loop of marabou chenile to form the tail.

Wrap marabou chenile around 3/4 shank. Tie in the black foam to form the wing case. Continue wrapping the chenile all the way to the eye of the hook.

Pull the foam towards the eye to create the wing case and do not trim the excess. Tie off and apply head cement.

Cut antenna out of excess foam. You're done!
Presentation Tips: This is one of the ugliest patterns in my box yet I refuse to remove it due to it's tremendous success. The marabou chenile is extremely lively under water. Fish this fly deep and slow.
