Orange Fish Hawk

Hook: Standard wet fly 12-16

Thread: Black

Hackle: Badger hen

Rib: Flat Gold Tinsel

Body: Orange floss


Tying Instructions:
Tie the hackle on so the tip points out, over the eye. Wrap the thread down the shank and tie on the gold wtinsel near the bend. Tie on the floss, then wrap the tying thread back down the shank forming a slightly tapered body. Wrap the floss down the shank; tie off; trim excess. Wrap the rib; tie off; trim excess. Next, wrap the hackle-2-3 turns-tie off and trim. While holding the hackles wept back with the non-tying hands thumb and forefinger, slightly overwrap the hackle to hold it in position. Form the head, whip finish and coat with cement.

Presentation Tips: Taken from Bergman's TROUT, this fly is effective fished as a single or in combination. By itself it can be fished in the film or just below, on the swing, or using the Leisenring lift. Note: This fly can also be tied dry.
