Current Tags for This Pattern / Brown / Soft Hackle / spider / Brahma Spider![]() tied by Soft-hackle Fly Type: Wet, Target Species: Trout, Material List: Brahma Spider Hook: Mustad R48 or similar sizes 10-16 Thread: Dk Brown Uni-thread. Hackle: Natural Brahma Hen Body: same as tying thread Rib: Same as tying thread Tying Instructions: This fly is very simple, yet very effective. Strip off one side of the hackle fibers and tie it appropriately to the hook shank so it points out, over the eye. Wrap the tying thread down the shank toward the bend evenly, then wrap back to rib at regular intervals. Wrap the hackle through the thorax OR as a collar as shown in the photo. You can finish this fly either in the North Country manner by not tying back the hackles or by sweeping them back and holding them with the non-tying hands thumb and forefinger. Slightly overwrap the fibers with tying thread to hold them in position. Form the head, whip finish and add cement. Presentation Tips: Fish this fly in the film or just under upstream or down. It can also be fished on the swing or using the Leisenring lift. | Other Flies Tied by Soft-hackle Members That Bookmarked This Fly Also Bookmarked...
