Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: Eastern Canada,
Imitation: General Baitfish,
Material List:
Hook, 2 Gamakatsu B10S size 1/0
glue: Zap-A-Gap or simmilar
Thread; black uni cord 12/0 and black 8/0 for wool head
Body; palmered grey marabou
Throat, white marabou
Sides; burnt orange or any orange marabou
Wing; black marabou
Topping 4 peacock herl strands on front fly only
Connection; 20 pound maxima, with three red glass beads
Skirt; rainbow flashabou
Tying Instructions: Tie the back fly first. Palmer grey marabou starting just ahead of the hook point using stronger thread. To just before the eye. Add white marabou for throat, burnt orange for sides, then black marabou for wing. whip finnish and add zap a gap or simmilar, let dry. Cut a piece of 20 pound maxima about 8 inches long and thread through eye of completed fly. Wrap the hook around something like the vise stem and pull the maxima to kink it. this keeps the back fly in place. Thread the three beads on the hook keeping the maxima from twisting. put front hook in vise and lay a thread base to just above barb or where the hook starts to bend. Again make sure the maxima does not twist, and that the top piece that goes through the back fly is on top and the bottom on bottom. Attach the maxima where the thread is hanging, on the side of the shank. So that the back fly is about 1 to 1 and 1/2 inches behind (room for beads to move, so the fly will move freely). Wrap thread forward over the maxima and make sure it does not twist and stays on the side of the shank. Until the eye of the front hook. Then thread the mono through the eye and wrap thread over it rearward. To about the middle of the shank. Clip bowth ends of the mono and continue rearward with thread until the tie in point of the mono is reached. Make a collar or skirt of rainbow flashabou so that it reaches just to the tip of the rear hook. this keeps the marabou from fouling in the trailer hook connection. Tie the rest of fly as before but stop the palmered grey marabou about 2 eye spaces back, (room for wool head). Add the throat sides wing and topping. change thread. Spin or stack black wool on top and white on bottom. Here I also added black on bowth sides of the shank. Whip finnish. trim head
Presentation Tips: this fly is supposed to resemble a juvenile brook trout and can be fished as any large streamer
