Olive Diver

tied by dsaavedra
Fly Type: Deer Hair,
Target Species: Freshwater Bass,
Recommended Region: Northeast US,
Imitation: General Baitfish,
Material List*:
Hook: whatever bass sized hook you want, just make sure to bend up the eye if the eye isnt bent up already...this is what greatly eases the fly in diving.

Dressings: whatever you want. here i used two long olive webby rooster neck feathers on the inside, and two smaller webbier hen back feathers on the outside of the longer feathers. then i put a lil marabou in the middle. i then wrapped the rooster hackle a few times infront of the rest of the stuff. just be sure to put your less defined material closer to the center, and the more defined material further out. i have included another picture of a different color scheme that demonstrates this better.

head: deer hair spun and clipped to a flat arrowhead shape.

weedguard: medium wire.

Tying Instructions: tie on dressings

spin hair

whipfinish

trim hair

start thread on bent up part of hook and tie on weedguard.

coat the eitire head throughly in head cement
Presentation Tips: because the eye is turned up, when this fly is pulled in, the eye is pulled downward to become leve, which makes the rest of the fly tilted downwards. this greatly eases with the diving qualities of it.
