Fly Type: Nymphs,
Target Species: Trout,
Material List:
Frank Sawyer, famed river-keeper and contemporary of Ritz, Skues and others invented this fly just after WWII. It is seldom carried anymore, much the shame because his other invention - the Pheasant Tail Nymph - is still in just about every fly box. Materials are simple - 1xl nymph hook, gray wool yarn, small copper wire.
Tying Instructions: A full video and step-by-step photographs are available at
Presentation Tips: Upstream dead drifted.
