Fly Type: Hairwing,
Target Species: Panfish,
Recommended Region: Central US,
Imitation: General Baitfish,
Material List: Hook: Mustad #9672, size 8
Thread: Uni Thread, 8/0 Black
Bead: Black Tungsten
Butt: Peacock Herl
Body: Yellow Floss
Rib: Peacock Herl
Wing: Squirrel Tail
Collar: Peacock Herl
Tying Instructions: With bead on the hook, run thread to just ahead of the bend and tie in herl. Wrap butt and tie off herl, leaving the tag at the rear of the hook. Advance thread to the front of the hook and tie in floss. Wrap up to the butt and back twice and tie off floss. Wrap tag of the herl forward and tie off, again leaving tag of herl exposed. Even tips and tie in squirrel wing. Wrap tag of herl around tie in for a collar. Tie off herl. Whip, snip, and fish.
Presentation Tips: This fly, because of the bead on the down-eye hook, will ride inverted. Need we rehash the benefits?
