Merkin (variant)

tied by Pujic
Fly Type: General Saltwater,
Target Species: Bonefish, Permit,
Recommended Region: Caribbean,
Imitation: Crabs,
Material List*:
Hook: Saltwater wide gap in sizes 4 - 2/0, such as the Mustad 34007 or 7766.

Thread: UNI Chartreuse 6/0

Eyes: Lead eyes or Bead Chain tied on top of the hook shank, causing the fly to ride inverted.

Tail: Small amount of barred chickabou with 6 cree hackles, 3 per side splayed outward on each side.

Body: Light brown and dark brown ram's wool (or Sculpin Wool) tied in an alternating pattern using figure 8 wraps.

Legs: The original fly calls for white rubber legs with red tips, however, I didn't have any white rubber hackle at the time so I used brown centipede legs.

Tying Instructions: The Merkin was developed by Del Brown as is responsible for more permit landed than any other fly in the World. Thanks Del!
