Fly Type: Streamers,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: Northeast US,
Imitation: General Baitfish,
Material List:
Tail: red hackle fibers substituted for the standard red yarn
Body: flat silver mylar tinsel
Rib: embossed silver tinsel
Throat: short bunch of red hackle fibers (my variation)
Underwing: white bucktail
Wing: 4 blue saddle hackles with green saddle hackles flanking and shorter - 1/3 to 1/2 length of wing
Topping: peacock sword
Eyes: jungle cock
Tying Instructions: Pretty standard streamer construction. I like the softer red hackle fiber tail and added the red at the throat to suggest gills. I like to use peacock sword and tie it over the top of the wing.

Also try tying it tandem if you do trolling.

It is a smelt imitation and I think the peacock is a great match for the dark dorsal area of a smelt.

I would also consider it a landlocked salmon pattern but that is not a selectable option so I just chose trout.

Presentation Tips: cast it or troll it.
