Pink Shrimp (DW)

tied by dwiltshire
Fly Type: Nymphs,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: General Europe,
Imitation: Shrimp/Prawns,
Material List:
Hook: Kamasan B100 Size 10
Thread: 8/0 tan
Underbody: Flat lead sheet
Dubbing: Fluorescent pink sealís fur
Thorax: Pearl Glister
Rib: 3lb monofilament
Shell Back: Clear Wapsi Thin Skin

Tying Instructions: Although very bright, the grayling (and trout) in British rivers go wild for this fly. I tie it 14, 12 and 10 hooks.
Mixing the dubbing with white dubbing 'washes' out the colour to produce a paler fly - I tie a range to suit the water colour.
Lead sheeting gives lots of weight, but retaines the slim pattern - once up and down the shank is all that's required.
Presentation Tips: High-sticking, Czech or upstream dead drift - all work - but watch carefully for the subtle takes.
