Cinnamon Swimmer

tied by Soft-hackle
Fly Type: Wet,
Target Species: Trout,
Material List: Hook: Mustad C53S or similar.
Thread: Uni Orange
Hackle: Cinnamon colored speckled hen back
Body: Cinnamon colored Hare's Mask dubbed by the Leisenring method.
Head: Peacock herl
Tying Instructions: Cast the thread on, leaving room for the head section. Strip the unnecessary fibers from the hackle, stripping the right side fibers a little higher than the left. Tie onto the hook shank so the side that is stripped higher is down on the shank, and so the hackle tip points, out over the eye.

Wrap the the tying thread down the shank, slightly over the bend. Tie on the dubbing brush, and wrap the thread back down to the hackle. Wrap the dubbing brush to form the body, tie it off and trim the excess.

Wrap the hackle, two turns, tie off and trim. Sweep the hackle fibers back, holding them in place with the non-tying hands thumb and forefinger. Slightly overwrap the hackle fibers to hold them in this position.

Tie on the peacock herl, trim excess and wrap to form the "head". Tie it off and trim.

Form the thread head, whip finish and add a drop of cement.
Presentation Tips: The fly can be fished upstream or down at or near the surface or just below; using an active retrieve like the Leisenring Lift, or on the swing.
