Tying Instructions: Cast on the thread and wrap down to the bend. Tie on the copper wire. Tie on the olive dubbing brush and wrap the thread back down the shank, about 2/3 of the way back, wrapping over the wire and thread ends of the brush. Remove any excess of the wire and thread. Wrap the abdomen, trim excess. Rib the abdomen with the wire, tie it off and trim excess.
Tie the hackle in by the tip where the abdomen stops, making sure you have enough hackle fibers to wrap through the thorax and around the collar. Dub on the dark gray dubbing, and rough it up with a bodkin or needle.
Wrap the hackle through the thorax and once around the collar. Tie it off and trim excess. While holding the hackle fibers back with the non-tying hands thumb and forefinger, slightly overwrap the hack to hold the fibers in a back-swept position. Wrap the head, whip finish and add cement.
