Gibby's Wild-Eye Snook Fly

tied by SteveGibson
Fly Type: General Saltwater,
Target Species: Snook,
Recommended Region: Southeast US,
Imitation: Sardines/Pilchards,
Material List:
Hook: Mustad 34007 No. 4 or similar
Thread: Fine mono
Tail: White neck hackle
Body: Body Fur
Flash: 2-3 strands Krystal Flash or Flashabou
Eyes: 3D stick-on
Sharpie markers
Tying Instructions: 1. Attach three to hook at the point
2. Tie it four white neckle hackles, two on each side and facing
3. Add 2-3 strands flash
4. Tie in Body Fur and wind forward to just before the hook eye and whip finish.
5. Trim body fure into minnow shape
6. Attach eyes with Goop
7. Color
Presentation Tips: The fly is great for sight-fishing snook in the surf. I make the cast and strip it in slowly. When the snook sees it and turns, I speed up the retrieve to trigger a strike.

It's also a good night snook fly and good for snook, redfish and seatrout on the flats.
