Spanish Elk Hair Caddis

tied by HobbesFly
Fly Type: Hairwing,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: Northeast US,
Imitation: Caddis Flies,
Material List:
Hook: TMC 100BL #10-18
Thread: Ultra thread, Brown, 70 denier
Body: Brown CDC Dubbin
Rib: Copper wire
Hackle: Brown, one size smaller than hook size
Wing: Elk hair
Vis: WingBrite, fluorescent fire tiger
Tying Instructions: Tie as you would a typical EHC. Only difference is CDC dubbin, neck hackle, and WingBrite vis.
Presentation Tips: Use this for Spanish and Euro nymphing, or whenever you've got a heavy anchor fly. Take off the vis to make for an excellent realistic pattern, as the CDC dubbin sticks out like legs.
