tied by tightlines
Fly Type: Dry,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: Eastern Canada,
Imitation: Mayflies,
Material List:
Deer Hair
Mayfly tails
Reddish Brown Hareline Dubbin
Mallard Barred Flank Dun
Size 16 egg pupae hook
Ginger hackle
Brown thread
Superfly flexible cement
scotch tape
Tying Instructions: What I did first was cut the tips off of two mallard flanks pulled some of the feathers of at the bottom leaving a exposed spine. I then placed that feather on to the sticky side of the tape. Then I lightly coated the feather with the flexible cement and let it dry. Then I started working on the extended body (following the deer hair extended body instructions that I was linked to from a post on this site). After attaching the extended body to the hook, I cut the mallard similar to that of a mayfly duns wing and tied in the hackle. moving the thread to the back of the hook I started to dub the body, tied off just before the hackle, spun the hackle, tied it off and whipfinished.
