Tying Instructions: Body is tyed before the leather carapace is put onto the hook and tyed in at the tail section. The hook hold the leather strip in place.
The steelhead version of the mudbuddy pattern was tyed with orange feelers made from Fly Tying Dungeon's Baby "Legs Alive" (tips colored with a red Sharpie marker) and Fluorescent Orange rabbit zonker strips for claws. The under body is heavily weighted with lead free wire so the pattern will dredge the bottom.
Presentation Tips: fish slowly along the bottom to imitate a crawdad/crawfish/yabby
I posted a set of detailed tying instructions in the Step-by-Step section of this website. You can download the tying instructions and print them out for reference while tying.
