Fly Type: Streamers,
Target Species: Freshwater Bass,
Recommended Region: Central Canada,
Imitation: General Baitfish,
Material List:
Hook- size 6-2 long shank streamer hook
Thread- size 3/0 black uni thread / silver tinsel thread for front of cone
Tail- Cut barred dyed rabbit fur black/white
Wing- white marabou
Body- Silver yarn from craft store.
Rib- Silver wire
Head- Silver cone head
Tying Instructions: 1. Slip the cone on to the hook eye.
2. Tie on the tail of rabbit fur.
3. Then tie on the strand of silver yarn
and the silver wire.
4. Wrap the silver yarn forward to the cone and
wrap to the cone with silver wire.
5. Tie on the white marabou wing behind the cone and cement the blunt tie off well.
6. Push the cone head back to the base of the marabou
and wrap on the silver yarn at the hook eye to lock the cone head back.
7. Cement the silver thread well.
You're done.
Presentation Tips: This pattern has worked well for smallies
and I assume would work for pike and maybe trout
as well.
I just let this one sink a bit and bring it back in darting motions.
