B.B.S. (Big Brown Streamer)

tied by siestafred
Fly Type: Streamers,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: Eastern Canada,
Imitation: General Baitfish,
Material List: Hook: Any 2 to 4 XL streamer hook, this is a #1 Eagle Claw 066A-1
Thread: Flat Waxed
Weight:Lead Wire, optional
Cone: Copper Tungsten
Tail:Grizzly Saddle Hackle, 2-3 per side
Flash: 3-4 Strands of Flashabou per side
Body: Tan/White Palmered Cross-cut Rabbit
Body Flash: UV Rusty Copper (or Crystal) Polar Chenille (see below)
Thorax Accent: 1 or 2 Partridge or other suitable feathers then 1 wrap of Root Beer Estaz behind the Cone.
Tying Instructions: For the body tie in and do 2-3 wraps of rabbit, then cinch it down and tie on the Chenille and do 2-3 wraps stroking backward toward the bend, then repeat several times up to just behind the cone. This gives a nice shiny look to the rabbit as the strands of the Chenille show through.
Presentation Tips: Big Browns eat big minnows, and this type of fly gets their attention. They seem to like the hot orange cone in the second picture, although why that is remains a mystery to me !
