Red October

tied by boynabubble
Fly Type: Nymphs,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: Northwest US,
Imitation: Worms,
Material List:
Hook: TMC 100 #16
Bead: Kill Caddis Glass Bead Red
Thread: Ultrathread 70 Red, Ultrathread 70 Black
Wire: Ultra Wire Sm Red
Coating: Hard as Nails

Tying Instructions: Materials are tied in order above.

1. Tie the body and make one whip finish with the read thread. Secure the black thread behind the bead and make several whip finishes, building up a nice taper around the bead.

2. Give the fly a coat of Hard as Nails or epoxy and it will be nearly indestructible.

Presentation Tips: This pattern got its name because it's a killer in the fall and helped me land my largest brook trout to date.
