Fly Type: Terrestrials & Midges,
Target Species: Panfish,
Recommended Region: Central US,
Imitation: Ants/Beetles,
Material List: Hook: Daiichi 1130, size 12
Thread: Uni Thread 8/0, Black
Body: Small beads, Black and rootbeer
Head/Wing: Deer body hair, Black
Tying Instructions: Thread beads on hook (be sure it's a fine wire hook so beads fit) and place in vice. Start thread behind eye. Clean and stack deer hair, then trim to length. Tie in deer hair, tips forward. Be sure to keep tie-in point very short. Push first bead forward, pass thread over it, and wrap 3-4 times behind bead to lock it in place. Repeat through all beads. With same process, move thread back to gap where bead color changes. Pull deer hair back over top of the beads and tie down. Don't pull thread too tight or you will cut the hair. Whip, snip, and coat tied-down portion of deer hair with cement. (note: wing is slightly heavier than it appears in picture)
