Hubbard's Rabbit and Bucktail

tied by BigDaddyHub
Fly Type: Bucktails/Deceivers,
Target Species: Freshwater Bass,
Recommended Region: Southeast US,
Imitation: General Baitfish,
Material List:
Barred Chartruese/Lime Rabbit Zonker
White Bucktail
Shad Grey Bucktail
Olive Bucktail
#2 Self Adhesive Eyes Grn/Blk
Size 6/0 Shad Grey Thread
Size 1 Gamagatsu Circle Hook
Tying Instructions: Secure your hook in the vice.

Tie in about a 3 1/2 " rabbit zonker 3/4 of the eye towards the hook eye. You want to leave ample room to tie in the bucktail and create a nice head.

Turn the hook over in the vice. Tie in a small clump of Grey bucktail. This will be your "lateral line" and give a little separation of the white bucktatil and the olive. You want to tie in the bucktail just a fraction FORWARD of the tie point of the rabbit strip.

Now, tie in white bucktail over the grey. This will be the "belly" of the fly.

Right the hook in the vice and Tie in the Olive bucktail as the "wing".

Make nice smooth, even wraps and build a tapered head. Tie off and cement. Used a generous amount of liquid superglue as a cement.

Now add the eyes. Varnish over the eyes and allow to dry.

Your choice of flash material can be added anywhere in these steps to help create the baitfish look you are trying to imitate.

Tight Lines!
