Whitlock RSFN Soft hackle

tied by uncletube
Fly Type: Nymphs,
Target Species: Trout,
Recommended Region: Central US,
Imitation: Stone Flies,
Material List:
Hook Mustad 3906 size 8 to 18
Thread : Brown unithread 8/0 (waxed)
Rib: fine flat gold mylar
Abdomen: Red Squirrel belly fur
Thorax: Red fox squirrel back fur
Collar: Partridge hackle
Tying Instructions: I use a soft or loose noodle for the dubbing of this and the regular RSFN for both the thorax and abdomen, The trick of this style of dubbing is to spin the bobbin as you wrap the noodle on the thread. You can do this by simply giving the bobbin a spin with your thumb and fore finger and just let it spin as you wrap the noodle on the thread. This is an old timer trick I learned from my mentor Harold Crammer( Whom we lost last year at the age of 81)
