FTD Whistler

tied by FlatzFatz
Fly Type: Attractor Pattern,
Target Species: Redfish,
Recommended Region: Southeast US,
Imitation: Shrimp/Prawns,
Material List:
FTD Congo Hair
FTD Dubbing, I thinks it's black widow...label fell off
Mustad 3407DT, I used them because their cheap :-). Size
yours according to need.
Danville, flat waxed 210 denier
Painted lead eyes, use bead chain for a authentic whistler and slower sink rate.

Tying Instructions: Start a eye and wrap to mid-shank

attach eyes on bottom of hook clouser style..vary placement to effect action.

Tie in Congo Hair around mid-shank, keeping all material on the bottom of hook. I came back under the material a couple of times to give it the angle I wanted.

Make a dubbing loop and continue thread to the eyes and place into a bobbin holder.

Place dubbing into loop and spin to give it a hackle like look.

Rotate vice (or dubbing loop) forward to eyes while palmering material back

Tie off and cut loop.

Build head, whip finish or half hitch.

Coat with cement

I didn't whip finish because I suck at it...Same reason I didn't mark the tail with a marker. Working on it.
