  9. Spanish Wet - A great one for summer "Pale salmon" Hook: Wet,nymph #14-16 (i prefer small hook). Body: One strand of Guterman Silk col.586,pale salmon. Thread and rib: Three fine strands thread nutwood color. Tail and collar("hackle"): Coq de Leon , Indio acerado claro (light dun) 1-Tie the tail 2-Separate de strands and use one 3-Shape the body, try to do a bit conic one, it would be good to facilitate the steps of the collar ("hackle") 4-Rib the body. These steps are the same used to do a mayfly body but trying to do a conic body. 5-With a scissors and your finger make dubbing pulling the silk. 6-At the end of the body put a small amout of dubbing to achieve a small hump ( i do this because the hackle fiber must be at 90 degrees,as possible, with the body.Spanish wet fishers use a special vise or a watchmaker pliers to have a perfect conic body without dubbing, using only the silk, in my opinion, dubbing is faster and works perfect). 7-Coq de Leon "point matching method" 7.1-With a light pressure slide the plume between your finger.Repeat it to achieve the fibers separates from the quill 7.2-With two finger pressed a small amount of fibers. (if you do correct step 7.1, the points of the fibers must be matched). 7.3-Wet the fibers with your tongue and put them in you pedestal (plate,tile....) 7.4-Repeat until you have approximately 40-50 fibers, about 3/4 of the plume, excluding the tip (fibers are too short) 7.5-Repeating 7.3 you must match the point of the fibers group. (photo) You can avoid 7.3 and 7.5 if you have a small hair mate. 8-Initially put the fibers in the hook (looking to the tyer with a low thread pressure 9-Now start increasing the presure on the thread and turning the thread to the dubbing hump (fiber must open in 180 degrees and pulling up perpendicular to the body axe near of the 90 degrees. IN MY OPINION a wet without 90 degrees fish too,we can find a fisher who only uses 90 degrees wet but depends of the faith in the wet. I usually don´t use 90º wets, i like lightly fallen hackles). 10-Distribute the fiber with your fingernail homogeneously. 11- If the fibers don´t pull up you can use a bit of dubbing to force the fibers from behind. 12-Finish the head 13-IT´S DONE!!! I like Gutermann silk because when you wet the fly, becomes very realistic. See the diference This fly is a killer in June-July in the sunset and in rainy days, IN MY OPINION. I hope you decide to tie Spanish Wet.
  10. I like so much this pattern. You find a good solution for the head, i´ll tie it but i´m thinking about move the weight to the head for a small jigging action. Goooooooooooooooooddddddddd!!!!!!
