  1. Cool looking fly, and it looks pretty easy too. What is the pinkish stuff riding around with the zonker strip? Is it hackle?
  2. I am new here, so this may be something that has come up here before, but I find this resource invaluable. KWSU TV, Fly Tying: The Angler's Art Great close up video of 3 to 4 flies each show, as well as information on the story behind the fly, and suggestions on how to fish it.
  3. Here is how it is going for me. I took up fly tying about 2 months ago. I got a kit from Cabelas. I tied all the flies in the little book that it came with. Then I started looking at other flies in books and online that I wanted to tie. When the recipe called for a material I didn't have(most of them), I would add it to my wish list at one of several online sellers( J. Stockard is presently at the top of the list). Once a week or so, I make a purchase of 20 to 40 dollars. As far as essentials, I would say that a few colors of good quality hackle would be good. Also the best upgrade I have found from kit materials would have to be thread. I bought an assortment of 6/0 Uni-thread, and 3/0 Danville monocord. Good thread is so much nicer to work with.
  4. Okay, thanks for clearing up my confusion.
  5. Just a question. The first time I clicked on the Member Map link, I was required to enter my Zip Code, as expected. Now, all I get is a blank page with the text "already entered" in the top left. I was under the impression, that it was a map that displayed the locations of members. Did I do something wrong?
