  1. The oscillating motor off an old fan works great . You can even use the cord from the old fan and with some scrap wood ,make one for hardley nothing. The best part of diy is that you can custimize it to fit your needs. ie. (space ,size ...etc.). Fred
  2. Wow!!!! Steve that is one awesome rod my friend. Fred
  3. BB thanks for hosting the swap. I did a full SBS for this pattern and sent it in to Kevin whom posts the patterns and articles for Hatches online , so hopefully it will be up on here soon. The black lines are embroidery thread tied in horoziontaly . Fred

  7. Not to worry this shrimp was tied strong and flexible . But thanks for the kind words . I am currently working on a pattern that will hopefully look as good but not take so long to tie. Fred
  8. Nice tie John . I like the bead on the tail , it should let that tail wiggle with the strips and drive the fish crazy. Fred
  9. Thanks for the nice comments Floyd, Henry and blugill576. Fred
  10. That should have been Spotted Shrimp. This was to be a spotted cleaner shrimp. There are numerous species of these in the tropics in a rainbow of colors. Thanks everyone for their kind words, Fred

  16. htt p http://www.realisticflytying.net/id12.html Here is a link to a sbs on one type of foam popper. all these poppers and sliders were done out of foam and can be done in a similar manner. Perchjerker put up some fine examples of poppers this is just to show a different technique.
  17. Well it dosn't scare the fish .I also caught about thirty gills and one smaller bass. I had a gar hit it about four times but I could'nt get this little hook in him.
  18. those look awesome Floyd , I'll bet they take a few bass as well. Fred
  19. The body is a few strands of 20lb test Triline big game fishing line. It's tied to the hook with mono thread and then coated with clear nail polish . The fishing line comes this color and is very translucent and the finger nail polish fuses the mono thread to the mono fishing line making this a very tough little fly. Thanks , Fred
  20. I would recomend trying a Rite bobbin . They are one of the new sponsors here. Look for their banner at the top of the page . The Rite bobbin has a ceramic insert and adjustable tension settings for thread control. I have been very satisfied with the ones I own. Just one tiers opinion. Fred
  21. I use a stone normally used for wood . http://www.realisticflytying.net/id12.html Fred
