  1. Wow those sili shad look killer! Looks like a good pattern for sight casting and under the lights this summer. I dont uasually throw spoon flies but a gold one would be the best for off colored water.....throw some yellow craft fur on the tail and your in buisiness.
  2. I have a float tube and have used it on small lakes and ponds. Kind of annoying to get through a thick moss bed though. it works good though and is probably going to be the easiest to transport and set up as far as time. I have found that to get through a thick moss bed on shore its easy to keep your feet up and sit kind of indian style and back paddle through the nasty stuff. Then when you get in some deeper water you can slide your legs down into the water.
  3. Im still poor.. :crying: :nopity: :crying:
  4. I am a glorified repair man dealing mostly with medical equipment(sterilizers, washers, scrub sinks, ect. A contractor with the 2nd largest supplier of said equipment in the world.
  5. The catfish that I have caught (uasually when the waters running slow) In rivers go after crawfish and baitfish pattern bass flies. A catalpa worm bugger too. Its uasually an accident though..But for a split second Im always shure its a big black or striped bass!
  6. Man day5 thats a sweet lookin bug.
  7. thank you all for the replies! I uasually fish the salt in and around Galveston. Theres lots of bays within an hour and my dad is a very seasoned angler so I try to learn all I can about the fish from him. I fish the guadalupe in New Bransfels in the winter and summerfor rainbows, bass, perch, carp, gar, catfish..I really like to catch bass and trout though. Im pretty new to tying(hours wise) but I have been trying to make time for about 2 years. I just dont have an area at my house to leave it all how I like it without my daughter trying to eat dubbing and bucktail at the kitchen table so it stays stored untill I have a day off that im not going fishing. Yeah I bought my wife a Wii and she loves it. I do like the golf game but I dont play golf. Wouldnt the Wii be sweet for a flyfishing game?! I put the glue and scissors in the checked bag but carried everything else. You could carry your stuff If youremembered to glue your heads that needed glue when you got home. You could buy some scissors in the beauty isle for pretty cheap but I wouldnt try to carry any from your house if their very expensive. I dont think you would fly with them. I dont know when Ill be back but in rochester I still have a couple of sessions that I know of. Ill give notice. I think the next one will be 4 weeks of class.
  8. I was in Rochester Ny, for training last month. i hate snow. But I didnt bring my xbox so I could get a couple of weeks of tying in(2-3 a night) and some good hoppy beers without all the honey doo's. these are some of the ones i thought turned out decent and I actually caught a couple of reds on the wht/ch clouser before i lost it on some oyster shell in a back bayou. hope you enjoy the pics. I am hoping to post some more soon.
  9. I like to use clousers, divers, and anything with a lot of movement underwater. Maribou, rabbit, fox, and some flash. Try adding lead wire or bullet heads with this and try some rabbit zonkers too if your tying them. I do mostly river bassing in Texas so its mostly craw patterns in red/black, brown/red, and brown/black and bigger(4-6") suspending streamer type patterns. Bigger wooly buggers with mono guards too.
  10. I got them at Marburgers in Kemah, Tx. There store bought. The guy there ties his own but none are for sale. I have no idea where he got them but Im shure if I asked he would tell me. (maybe..he might want me to buy them from him!) These sink like a clouser and the flash tail comes alive whith short fast strips. Great in the first gut on the beach. Those look like this guys piggy fly. http://www.creativefeathers.com/FlyShop.cfm
  11. Wow I know exactly where you are talking about! Fatboys, and its run by a big mexican guy that is really friendly. Ill have to try the flat someday, it sounds great. I just have to pull myself away from San Luis pass!! Heres some pics of some flys from a local dealer. I gotta know how to tie this one!!! Just as good in clear water as it is in green or even a little murky. Tried it in Mexico and caught fish there too.
