  1. All the usual suspects!!!!!!!!!

    I'm in.

Count me for 2 spots. There are 2 flies you justgotta HAVE

    Ed Ruckey's Flesh Fly

    Erroll McKwerk's Muddler

I used these two patterns on Chopaka Lake this fall and I thought I was in a bass tournament.

(my base computer is among the living dead for the moment, as soon as I can I will post some of the results for these patterns.)

    Addy please.

This is a very simple pattern...if you can find long maribu. And it has been very effective on one of the spring creeks in Eastern Washington and in several stillwater situations as well.

    Hook: size 12 3x long

    Thread: olive 8/0

    Tail: long olive maribu

Body: Very long olive maribu twisted into a "rope".

    Wire: ex small red copper.

  3. I want to apologize to all of you who joined this swap. I screwed up and sent my flies to Eric's old address. They didn't make it on time.

I was really looking forward to see what you sent. I promise to check the Addy's before I send the flies. I will also start to tie and send soon enough to avoid the crush at the last minute!!!

Killer swap :headbang: :headbang::headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Thanks to all you who have been in it! It was a real treat to see the skill of the other tiers.

The pattern I used was a take off on the original Woven Wire Weevil. I adjusted a trout pattern for BG's. I used a longer straighter hook than the original.

Here is a clip showing my source for the WWW.

    Global Fly Fisher

I used Wapsi chartreuse wire for the lower abdomen and olive for the top.

The flash back is medium pearl ribbing.

I did use a tungsten bead so this thing will go down fast!! You could use a lighter bead to slow down the drop.

  5. HS

I have been using the bobbins from Norm for about 12 years. Once you get used to them, you have a tough time using anything else. However, the issue of winding everything first is not trivial. (I have about 30 spools.) If the Ekich bobbin was available at the time, I not sure I would have made the investment. Although if I total the amount I have spent on the Norland's I would probably have saved some cash and a bunch of time.

My only concern with the Ekich model is the diameter of the tube. The Norland's are are pretty narrow and they work well laying down the thread exactly where you want.

With either bobbin I think you will really love the ability to move up and down on the thread.

Looking forward to seeing some of your results in the swaps.

  6. I made some rosy assumptions as this swap progressed. I figured could get these finished without big delays. :wallbash: Now I am caught between a rock and a hard place. I brought the untrimmed bugs down to the beach to finish them and get them in the mail. I figured that it would be no problem. Well this is my 2nd attempt at doing bass bugs. Well a couple of them didn't make the cut so to speak. I really don't want to send something that isn't up to par. I am a couple of bugs short. I wont be back home until next Tuesday. It will take at least a couple of days to get everything done and in the mail. I will leave it up to you. I can send the whole batch out next week, or send what I have now and fill in for those missing by sending sending them out individually. Let me know.

  7. Great Group!!

I will probably do as they say in baseball... lets play 2. There is a great leech pattern that seems to work everywhere I have thrown it. But I don't see many blond versions in real life! I just know it works!! And I have a friend and member of my fly club who builds some great nymphs that take a bit more work but the only way to wreck them is to DUMP THEM DOWN THE DISPOSAL! :o
