Fly for the Nymph-o-Maniac Swap Hello All...First I want to say I met Greg Heffner at the Fly Fishing Show in Somerset and this is a pattern from his book. This is my first try at a Stonefly & also a woven body. I'm tying a few before I tie the ones for the swap so I can work out the kinks. So far the two hardest parts for me have been keeping the segments tight and crowding the hook eye. The body is tied with Larva Lace and when pulling tight I've broken a few pieces of lace. The eye crowding is tough, when I tie in the Biots I've crowded the eye twice. So I will tie a few more for practice. What do you all think so far? Regards, Scott

Hello All... I'm trying to tie a Stonefly Nymph that uses Swiss Straw for the wingcase and I'm having problems. In the book the instructions say to unfold the Swiss Straw and coat both sides with head cement then fold it back up to the width you need. When the Swiss Straw is wet from the cement it's hard to fold back up. When it dries will it be to stiff to make the folds for the wingcase? Is this the proper way to use the Swiss Straw? Thanks for any help. Regards, Scott

Hello all...My father shot a duck, so I took the flank feathers and both wings. I would like to tie some dry flies and use these flank feathers but I have not used flank feathers yet. Is there a tutorial out there that shows how to do this or can someone advise? Thank You. Regards, Scott

Hello All...I bought a Metz #1 Saddle Natrual Brown Cape. When I bought the cape I could see that there was some black on the barbs closest to the quill, I thought nothing of it. When I looked at the feathers I noticed that there was a lot of black on the barbs, every feather has black at the base of the barb. Is this what natural brown is? Is there another color that has an all brown barb? I wanted an all brown feather to tie Elk Hair Caddis. I'm going to another shop Saturday to look for something different. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks! Regards, Scott
