  4. Here is a great midge emerger tutorial, as seen in a few publications...enjoy. http://www.catching-shadows.com/catching-s...rgan_Midge.html
  5. Great fly, I really like this one....
  6. Ninja, try using 20-30 pound plastic coated wire that such as bit tippet or wire from a hardware store. The trick to keeping the trailer from twisting is keeping the wire or mono on one side of the hook shank so that the loop your trailer hook is going through is perpendicular to the hook eye. sort of like a "+" symbol if that makes any sense to you visually.
  7. Once again your submissions amaze me. Awesome tie, perfect proportions, stellar presentation!
  8. Also, apparently there was a sound issue during the wingcase portion of the video. It's been remedied sorry bout that. Here is a picture of the 3 colors.
  9. Here is a tutorial for my go to stone fly pattern. Enjoy http://www.catching-shadows.com/Site/Video...“ST”_Stone.html
  10. I started cleaning out my old tutorials by cleaning up the presentations and also most importantly by filming them in HD. Heres one of my favorite go to caddis pupa patterns. I hope you like it. http://www.catching-shadows.com/Site/Video...gic_caddis.html
  11. Awesome fly, we fish a similar looking version where I am from, but I must say I may like yours better. Nice work
  12. The tube itself is abou 1 1/2 inches long, on my tube videos in the future I will incorporate the length of the tube, thanks for the input. Let me see if I can figure out how to load up a photo. On a side note, the best sizes that I have found have been anywhere from 1-2 inches in length. You can also tie this pattern on an aluminum or copper tube to make it sink more if you wish. Glad you liked it. Keep your eyes peeled, next month I am going to unveil the tutorial for my ST stone. Heres a pic with the fly in tact.
  13. Here is a classic bucktail favorite that I converted to a tube. Enjoy. http://www.catching-shadows.com/Site/Video...a_Tube_Fly.html
  14. Hey folks, here is a staple fly on my home waters, and one that has been written about in several magazines and a few books. I hope this tutorial answers any questions on it's construction. Enjoy http://www.catching-shadows.com/Site/Video...addis_Pupa.html
  15. Yah, that fly does look damn big. Hey I like the signatures you have, amen brother!
  16. Roy, Those are craft beads that I bought at Michaels crafts. The beads that are sold by flyshops actually are the same products. The beads come in plastic tubes and you get like 250-500 beads for what you would pay for say 50 in a shop, not to mention the variety in colors is off the charts. I believe the bead size is midge, I use a micro sized one for anything smaller than an 18, (ie: 2mm 16-18, 1.5mm for anything smaller). Good luck
  17. John, absolutely am. And "My back is torqued and my Type A personality is confined to the house for the sixth straight day-itis"!! Oh, and yes, your request for April is dually noted.....
  18. Heres another tying tutorial. Enjoy. http://www.catching-shadows.com/Site/Video...ired_Midge.html
  19. I too have run a sort of course on vises like Troutbum. I started with a Thompson A, upgraded to a better thompson. Both worked good but I was not overly happy with them. I then moved on to a Renzetti master, I absolutely loved the vise and it gave me 5 good years worth of flytying, but after a customer service nightmare I sold the vise on Ebay and vowed never to return business. I guess I am old school when it comes to customer service, something that is a dying breed of sorts now a days. I eventually moved on to an HMH and I am very happy with it. I have all four jaws for mine, I personally think the tubefly attachment is the best one out there. Its really a matter of personal preference in terms of vises, get your hands and hooks into as many as possible till you find the right fit.
  20. Heres a tutorial for a real simple anchor fly that can be used in a 2-3 fly european or standard nymph setup. Enjoy the video.. http://www.catching-shadows.com/Site/Video..._Jig_Leech.html
