1. Any chance to see these styles as a "step by step" tutorial for us less experienced tyers? DT
2. Yesterday I received the Zulus I sent in for this swap, back. His family is returning those that included the self-addressed/stamped envelope. This was the last swap Mark ran before he passed away and he was not able to get them sorted and returned to the swappers. If we all get our flys back; is there any interest in completeing the swap with another SM? Or is would this be in bad taste? I will do it if not. Jim
3. I was able to finish one set with all the going ons at the lake (fire, reunion, kids fighting, boats not running right etc..) Will complete my other set by week ends end. Jim
4. Wayneb Any variation will work. Sebd a PM to Chappy as he is not a member of this board yet but I will attest to his honesty and integrity. Jim the deserttrout
5. Back from a week of fishing at Eagle Lake and assisting Fire Fighters (water, food, tools atc) and found a swarm afof flys in my PO Box. Thanks for the time and energy, overbrook. Let's do it again next year! Nice flys everyone. The poppers are neat!! deserttrout

7. Flys arrived. Nice job all! I will be doing an Adult Caddis Swap on VFB after the 4th, if interested keep checking. If anyone is interested in a Chili Pepper swap, let me know and I will send you the info. Chappy needs 11 more tyers (for 20). I framed last years results in a shadow box. :headbang: :headbang: This is the third year he has ran this swap. Deserttrout PS. I will not be responding to email etc until after the 4th as I am heading out in an hour or so for some lake fishing. :yahoo: Jim
8. Here are the results of the Chili Pepper Troll :headbang: Chili Pepper Troll on the table I forgot that I use a gold set of bead chain eyes instead of the gold bead DT
9. I call the Burnt Orange Fly "The Chili Pepper Troll". On my trolling rod I do not use the gold bead as I use Lead Free Core line to get the fly down but on the fly rod I do use the gold bead. I want to thank Tony Spezio for his guidance on tying Chili Peppers. Any help with getting a picture attched would be appreciated. DT
10. Hi I troll for Rainbows, Cutbows, Browns and LandLocked Salmon most all the time. I have two rigs, both St Croix Avids; a 9' trolling rod (made with a 6w fly rod blank) and a 6w Avid Fly rod. I tie my own streamers: 4-8 Xlong hook, Thread to match the marabou, Marabou (Burnt Orange is my favorite), Copper Chrystal Flash, Copper Chennile, Brown or Ginger Hackle and a SHINEY Gold Bead. Wrap Hook w/ Thread, spread glue evenly over thread, Add a Clump (10 or more sixe specific for the hook) of the Flash, tie in a clump of marabou, add the chennile for the body and add the hackle. Go back and tie in the flash and marabou again and again and end with a clumd of the flash on top. It will look BUSHY but once it is wet it looks like a Clouser. Get some of those plastic wobblers (I like clear) and place on your leader above the fly, tie on the fly and troll. I use a figure eight movement with my rod as this make the fly speed up and slow down repeatedly. The secret is troll SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW but fast enough for the fly to move. The plastic wobbler helps. I use dark flies (black, dark brown, rootbeer etc..)in the early AM and after 9AM i go to the Burnt Orange, yellow, etc... Good Luck deserttrout
11. Sounds good to me. I do not have very many foam poppers so that's great. Jim
12. I agree with the rest. Keep the fly if it happens as you think. I sent a couple extra anyway (I think). What did you tie? I can't find it. Must be hidden from my old eyes. BigDewey in Reno. I will be at the VA hospital the 17th of June at 1200-1300 for a treatment. Want to meet somewhere for a soda and BS about fishing our areas? Jim
13. Yes or no on going to the VFB tyers to see if they want to join your swap. Jim
14. OK, I ordered some footies for the swap so count me in. PTDL. would you object if I asked some members in VFB and another site if they were interested and have them send you a PM of intent? Jim the deserttrout
15. Received your address Mike, Thanks the flys will be flying your way soon By the way what type of trout you have down there? concrete trout? :hyst: the deserttrout is out
16. I think you did a good job. I like Soft Hackles or Spiders. All three would catch fish. Old Hat said it all. Again, pleas send receipes. Thanks and Tightlines, strong hooks and solid strikes. Jim the desertrout
17. Nice fly What is the receipe? Please send. [email protected] Thanks Jim the deserttrout
18. No Snowshoe Hare feet or I would Join Being I live 60 miles from the nearest fly shop I have to use the internet. :crying: I will Join and can order some of the material today if you can be a couple days flexible - say the 30th of July for the flys to reach you. It will still be a push as some suppliers take ten or more days for their stuff to get to me. Tightlines Jim the deserttrout
19. I agree with the BigE. I am in my 3rd and 4th swap on this board and each swap had a different fly to tie. And on another board I just mailed off two (extended body Mayfly and Mayfly Nymphs). If a swap is not for you and all you want to do is trade flys; you really need to go to the General Fly Tying Forum or the classified board. I would recommend that you do join a swap and submit your flys sometime. Sounds like you tie a nice fly. Jim
20. Mike send addy please. should have 13 Truckee River Specials completed this weekrnd. Jim the deserttrout
21. Justin 15 flys completed. Please send me the mail addy I need to send them to Jim the deserttrout
22. I agree. A better picture would do the fly justice. What hook and size of hook did you use? I might have seperated the legs as your head was busy (bead, hackle and legs all in last 1/4 of fly). Just my thoughts . Nice fly anyway. dt
23. Some good information here. I am now in a Swap on another forum that we use "pet hair" called. what else, The Pet Hair Swap. I am tying a fly called the Crybaby Tyson. Named after my daughters two cats that volunteered their hair. I suggest a swap since their are so many that use "pet hair". Go for it and have fun!! deserttrout
24. Count me in with a Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Soft Hackle sz 10. I use these for Steelhead on the Snake River. deserttrout
