Just wanted to remind everyone about the Matlacha Fly Fishing Festival taking place this April 23rd and 24th in Matlacha, FL. This is a two day event consisting of a fly only tournament day with both paddle fishing and motorized divisions, and a Festival day with fly fishing demos, instruction, fly tying demos, a kid's fly tying table, raffles, music, food and lots of fly fishing family fun! My name is Capt. Greg Bowdish and I am a guide, casting instructor, and writer out of Cape Coral, FL. I teach fly tying classes in Cape Coral and thought I would share some of my patterns with the forum and maybe learn some new flies for the students in the class. We have a lot of kids and it is very rewarding to see younger people getting into the sport. Obviously, we mainly tie flies for Saltwater, but I personally use a lot of freshwater patterns (even trout flies) in the salt. I hope I can bring something constructive to the table!
