  9. Howdy Jim, I felt the same way Jim. It seems the harder I try to fix something the more difficult it becomes. So, I just take it easy, work on a fly for a few days or weeks and let it be. I look forward to your participation in the next swap. Keep at it buddy. Vinnie
  10. WOW! The flies form Davie and Kyle are incredible. I am never surprised at Davie's talent and Kyle's wings are way to impressive. I feel substandard! :wallbash: Vinnie

  13. Howdy all, I just moved to Maryland and will be here for one year. Are the any Maryland dudes/dudettes here that know of any fly shops in the Annapolis/Baltimore area other than the Bass shop? Thanks, Vinnie
  14. Cool post.... i am an ex-law enforcement officer, now unemployed/full time mr. mom and soon to graduate from college with a Bachelor's in business management. i have no idea what i want to do, other than fish and tie flies vinnie
  15. Howdy James, Thanks for your reply, I was tying it on the side of the shank. Do you strip off any of the tinsel and tie in the thread only to reduce bulk??? I am lost on that part as well. Vinnie
  16. I am very comfortable with setting tag ends and am working on the ostrich herl wraps to cover up the "fat" part of the tie off. The biggest problem for me is to get the oval tinsel (or whatever tinsel is being used) to tie in properly so there is no gap between herl and the tinsel wraps revealing the thread underneath. If I did not dismantle the fly I was working on last night I would post a picture. Vinnie
  17. thanks daryn, i will have to try that when i get some materials for this style. vinnie
  18. i use mostly intruders and variations thereof in the salt, for rivers, anything goes however purple perils seem to be in abundance in my wallet.... vinnie
