  1. If youl ook at some of my other flies i posted...they look the same way.I am using a vivitar camera with macro mode and taking the pic through a magnifying glass. It probably didn't help any when i dropped it while duck hunting about a month ago.But the earlier pictures were the same way b4 dropping it in the water, the only thing wrong with the camera now is it wont flash>???????? shane

  3. So do you mean a FOX squierll?A true red in wv is allot smaller than the average gray squierrl. There's allot near my cam in randolph county. So you have true fox-a nice oarngish foxy suierrl. The great appalachian gray squierrl, that can be black ,though i've never seen.A red-a ferrydiddle as we call them. And the white fase. Me i prefer the greys while hunting {more abundant) but a fox squierrl is nice.I voted for fox cause i like getting the hunting season. shane

  12. Its a mix of reddish gold fur my the "old man"Kozmo" and a little lighter mix of reddish gold from the "baby"his daughter suzy.If you bougt it in individual packs...would probably make 10 packs...Its ALL YOURS IF YOU WANT IT PRICE=FREE SHANE.
  13. i have tyed on the griffin odyssey spider for the last 7 months.Probably tied close to a thousand flies, with not one problem.holds hooks rock solid, rotary,,,though i don't use it much but i do use it,,on my smaller midges.I love it,,,best vice i have ever owned...I have tied size#6 all the down to #32...and it is great for all in between....plus u got the lifetime warranty n...how could u go wrong.
  14. I tie flies for one reason...TO CATCH FISH.It is a means to an end,if i know or think it will catch fish i will tie it.My 2 most effective patterns right now r a #30 cdc and thread fly.And a #30 white mallard feather wrapped around the hook. That is 2 materials on both flies.CDC and thread on the one. and a barbule of a white mallard feather and thread on the other. If i had to pick a third it would be a 2mm foam ant with bills ant and beatle leg material...... for the legs...simple....but these 3 flies have caught over 100 trout so far for me this year. my 2 cents shane
  15. The odyssey spider is a work horse,,plus...lifetime guarantee...Tied over 700 flies.#6 deer spun hoppers to # 32 cdc midges...i cant say enough good thing bout it. shane
  16. diddo...books and i rented one or two videos i think. shane
  17. fly box this could be?I can only describe it to you.I saw another angler wearing one on his belt one day. This guy fishes nothing but tiny flies up to 40's.32's with cut shanks. It was sorta small, about 3 inches by 2 inches. It had a rectangular shape, and i'm pretty sure it was aluminum. It looked like it had a magnetic lid.I know i should have asked him for a closer look, but i didn't,i will next time i see him. This box is deifnately something for the midge fisher. If anyone has any idea what i am describing could you please let me know.I have looked everywhere on the net and cant find nwhat i sawm him have. shane almost shaped like a rubex cube cept a little taller and not as wide??????????
  18. this is my curretn vise, the odyssey spider...I have tyed over 700 flies on it without any problems ,,i love it... shane
  19. Congratulatons!!!!!!!On your trip-summer.I too have had an extraordinary year.I have climbed one more ladder in my fly fishing career. After fishing my favorite stream for the past 20 some odd years,I am actually catching the fish on what they r eating. An immitation that is.Through the years I have had moderate succes on all the standard patterns on my beloved elk river. But,this year,I evolved greatly into a predator on my favorite stream. In 7 or 8 trips to my camp,i have caught 158 trout.38 in one day.and I am actually catching them on the bugs they r keying in on.West virginias Elk river is infamous for its small midge fishing,And i can say,i have evolved into a midge finatic.Catching atleast half of those fish on flies # 24-28.I am now cranking out #30's like i used to crank out wooly buggers. One step closer to what the trout really want....the ever elusive #32 midges the elk trout are famous for gorging themselves on.Kudos to you and all who are truly a brother to the angle. shane
  20. I pull mine straight from the butt of the dead duck i shoot,be it,woody, mallard goose, what have you.Let dry and during tying if i run into a cdc barb with blood on it i just scrape off with my fingernails. The fish just love em i tell ya,especially on a # 28. shane
  21. Unfortunately not guidingyet jeff,,,,,,had a few setbacks...but lord willing,if i do not die..i will make this dream a reality. and rollq-we can fish year round here. And my favorite stram produces topwater action on most days 365 days a year....But allot of times you have to be willing to go small and i mean very small, but we have all the major eastern hatches also ,except tricos. shane been busy though http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu266/i...ger18/31A-1.jpg http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu266/isoemerger18/3.jpg http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu266/i...erger18/30A.jpg http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu266/i...erger18/28A.jpg http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu266/isoemerger18/16.jpg
