  1. Perfect time of year for your screen name. Welcome. Cheers, Futzer
  2. Hi Firetiger and Hobbes, I am with you. Just having a little fun with the name. BTW what is Spanish Nymphing? Cheers, Futzer.
  3. Sorry Vegasphoto, there are no fish in our Green River, Yeah, that's it, thats the ticket.......... Cheers, Futzer.
  4. Not really a target rich environment for tyers. I have used them for Silicone, super glue, and compartment boxes. That is about it. Cheers, Futzer.
  5. Just keeping this in the new post range. It's Tuesday, so we are closing in on Sat. Show Smallie Hunter some love, especially after black Oct. and his hard work to get us back from being hacked. Also for J. Stockard, our fine sponsor, think of their bragging rights of 10,000 users online at once. Cheers, Futzer.
  6. The Clearwater is on my short list too. Heard anything on this years fall run? Cheers, Futzer.
  7. Hello Pujic, Nice Muskie!!!!! My tip, do not stick your hand in its mouth. Water temp is key! We do not have Muskie down here in Utah, but we do have Tiger Muskies and Pike. We fish them in the spring from ice off to upper 60's water temp, Then in the fall as they ready for winter. My largest is 44 inches. I use realistically colored bait fish patterns and big crawdads made from rabbit strips, in olive, black and rust colors. Fish the crawdads right on the bottom. The baitfish, cast into the weeds near shore and strip out to deeper water. I have hooked up in about a foot of water. Unfortunately have never hooked a tiger or pike topwater, like more northern fisheries. Thanks for sharing the pics. Cheers, Futzer.
  8. Welcome! Nice golden bone.... Cheers, Futzer.
  9. Personally I'd avoid it, the zoomed picture does not show the quality of the materials. Also it looks like you get alot for a little, but I do not see a good combination for tying basic patterns. First off, what flies do you want to learn, I would go to your local fly shop and get set up to tie some Wooly Buggers and start getting your tying skills developed. Once you feel comfortable move to a more difficult pattern, but tie a bunch, the same size, say 100 or more. This will get you used to proportioning correctly and tying consistently. Once you get to know the guys at a local shop, they can help show you how to select material for the type of fly you want to tie. If you do not have ready access to a local shop, call J. Stockard and try to work directly with one person for a while, tell them what you'd like to tie and they will not lead you astray. Root thought, buy a few good quality materials, learn to use them successfully and build from there. My $0.02 worth. Cheers Futzer. And ask lots of questions in the forum, there is tons of good advice, and nothing is too silly to ask when you are learning.
  10. Hi Steve, that last sight cast needs a 5/0 emerging ribeye and some wire leader, but do not forget the jaw spreader. Cheers, Futzer.
  11. Oh Coach Bob, the hardest part is admitting you have a problem :-), Futzer.
  12. The last ones I sent you were a 1980-ish Whiting that I use for my fav. Wulffs, and yes I buy lots of full saddles and capes. Find out when your local shop gets their shipment and go high-grade one or really talk to your online source and make your color pref. clear. Oh and I will post a pattern and recipe in the Db soon as you wanted. Tying in front of this forum is like owning a Ferrari, and in front of your Ferrari owners club, stating mine is the fastest and the most beautiful. You better know your sh...t. It may be my entry to the 2008 tying comp. Depends on how cocky I feel to enter a Wulff and not a stillborn Emerger in a fall color blah blah. With eyes balls and arseholes. Keep up the fine work. Cheers Futzer.
  13. Old Hat, Where do you fish? I am in your neighborhood on occasion, at least Spokane. Lets fish sometime. I spend long hours on occasion in the Salmon in Salmon ID, but that is the Steelie equivalent of the round the world trip. Cheers, Futzer.
  14. No worries, just get some time to throw a bug or two in your busy sched. Futzer.
  15. I bought, uuuggghhh, 3 gummy minnows this year, so I broke a 42 year stint of tying all my own. And that is even not poaching at the fly tackle dealers show each year. My name is Futzer, and I know I now have a Gummy problem. Cheers, Futzer.
  16. Hey Dart, can't wait for the Royal family photo.... Cheers, Futzer.
  17. Justin, I can hardly wait to see your entries fot the FTF 2008 tying competition, keep having fun and keep tying. Futzer.
  18. my GUI is ok, but Burrowing mayfly cluster is taking on a life of its own. Cheers, Futzer.
  19. Snelled knot, though keep them to remember your Grandpa and buy some hooks with eyes. Cheers, Futzer.
  20. Just carry a 6inch C clamp and a piece of wood you can clamp your vise to. Works on picnic table and tail gate a like, though a bottom piece of wood to protect said tail gate. C clamps rock, Futzer.
  21. They may be classic salmon fly hooks, and require tying in a loop of gut material. Or they may need to have a snelled knot tied to them. Send a pic and we can tell you for sure. Cheers, Futzer.
  22. Hi Doc, thanks for sharing, send us a picture of fishing in Serbia, sounds exotic to me. Thanks, Cheers, Futzer.
  23. Hi Brian, Glo yarn is pretty close to the bottom end of the tyers price list. What are you tying, Eggs? Let me know maybe I can dig out a few hooks to send your way. Cheers, Futzer.
  24. Good work, practice, practice, practice. Pick one fly you really want to learn and tie 100 of them, same size. Make them look exactly like the recipe you pick. You will be surprized how much you improve. Post a pic of #1 and #100, you'll be proud. Cheers, Futzer.
