  1. http://www.czechnymph.com/en/ a great site to get started with. just remember to extend you 9ft. leaders to 11 and 12 ft. leaders! great looking nymphs. i like the look with the shrimp foil under it but it is some expensive stuff.
  2. someone on this board had a good pattern for an woven extended body for panfish with a sbs. could someone give me the link?
  3. probally because the guy then submitted it to umpqua. i do belive umpqua caries that fly.
  4. sweet extendeds! are you doing the extended part on a nail or a needle?
  5. i see pike written all over this bad boy! great tie!
  6. YUM! love the EP stuff!
  7. i like to just use a #18 or 16 nymph hook with a 3/32 bead head in copper or gold. use 6/0 danville chartreuse thread for the abdomen and then use peacock ice dub or peacock herl for the thorax. works well for me. if you are talking a cased caddis that just do the same thing but with like a 2x or 3x long hook and peacock herl for the body with crappy hackle wrapped around it and cut the hackle really short to the fly and add some red fox slf dub for the head.
  8. cool stuff. what rank are you? i am a life working on my eagle project and then hopefully eagle.
  9. how did you do? and how long were you there?
  10. wow....miss a nap this afternoon, FB? Not familiar with this particular product and just too lazy to Google it...what are the facts on this thing? Pros and cons? :dunno: sorry i was not trying to be rude but people are always like just google it and all the google results i called the shops and they did not have any. i just wanted to explain to people that i already did that. i was not trying to be rude or anything. as far as a carbon fiber net. the particular model is cheaper than other wooden nets. it is more durable because of the carbon fiber. it is a light net. i ended up going with a fisknat float tube net. pretty nice stuff because of the 12" handle i can use while wading or in the kayak.
  11. overseas. the best hooks come from overseas.
  12. gotta get some of this stuff. looks amazing. i just hate epoxy. how is it work for coating popper heads?
  13. love backpacking! it is an amazing thing to do. and a hard thing to do. that is amazing that you can get your pack to 30lbs. last time i took a week long backpacking trip my pack was like 40ish
  14. i am cool with bass tournaments no problem against it since they dont harm the fish. i even participate in a few in my kayak with the fly rod.
  15. my opinion from working in the fly shop around the boots and such- go with the vibram soles. you must ware the studs in them to keep the extra traction The korkers guide boot is sick because of the BOA lacing system. fits nice a firm just like a ski boot. just twist the thing and you are good to go. for a cheeper boot go with the korkers crosscurrent boot simms are an amazing boot. i don't know why people says the are a lot of money and little on features. might i remind you that when trout unlimited asked for all companies to discontinue felt soles by 2010 (in the year 2008) that simms immediately stepped up to the plate and accepted. now all they sell are vibram soles. they are really nice boots with nice features. I have the rivershed model which is moderately priced. the thing i like most about them is the material. it is a thicker material which comes in handy when you cross the wrong snakes path and he decides to bite. the material does not soak up that much water so that helps with minimal transport of aquatic invasive species. they lace up just like a hiking boot which is nice to me. and they are lighter than the guide series for some hike in fishing trips. the guide model is a heavier model which is not as good for hike in fly fishing but still works.
  16. same company that makes mustad hooks today i belive. just switched names.
  17. well which is it? sage or lamson?? :dunno: really? why?? :dunno: i said sage would be the best in my opinion. if you actually read my post. and if you also read my post you will understand why it casts better. read the post first and then you will understand why. it specifically says the rod was made and tested with the sage reels. please dont jump out until you fully read the post
  18. IMHO if you are looking at a sage bass rod which is a wicked rod. i might look at going for the smallmouth version. the largemouth version 330 grain translates to like a 9 or 10 wt. maybe even an 11. which means that rod has a lot of backbone. i lot of people like that rod if they are casting big flies into weeds and lilly pads because they are horseing the fish out of the cover. the smallmouth version will be a nice in between rod. go for the sage reel. the rod was made and tested with the sage reels. it will cast the best with the sage reel. if you dont really want the sage look at the waterworks lamson reels.
  19. no. the post said that even s2 stopped making them until next fall. i sorta settled on a fisknat for this weekends trip but ups just screwed me over.
