  1. Yes Houndog I have used this tool and found it disappointing.I think it may be good for trapping several feathers at the same time but most of my work involves single feathers. For it to work well it would need to trap the single feather stalk right at the end of the tool.With some smaller feathers it is almost impossible to secure them at the end of the tool,the gap is too big. After trying nearly every pair of hackle pliars on the market I have settle for "Hackle nabbers" and these suit me fine. I like a lot of Petitjean's gear though and find his whip finish tool to be the best on the market. Perhaps his hackle pliars are best suited to some of the quite specialzed methods he uses.
  2. There are many good vices on the market. Most are good,some are brilliant and I have either owned or tried most of them. I do feel ,however, that there is something indefinably right about the Law bench vice. It may be the fact that it is so obviously hand made and beautifully designed. It is like owning a Jaguar and then aquiring an Aston Martin.Both do the job and both are desirable but the Aston has that extra something. So has the Law!
