Crackleback

Just finished this rod a couple weeks ago. The blank is a Swift Epic 686. Snake brand guides/tip top and reel seat with spalted maple insert. Clear wraps on the guides with red trim and red agate stripper to match the trim. I turned the grip and fighting butt myself, capping the butt in red EVA foam to match the trim. I did the grip a little chubbier than usual. I stripped streamers with it all day last Tuesday and it was real comfortable in my hand. Here' the first decent fish on the rod -Mike

I got my hooks yesterday. My single hook one will be on a Partridge 6/0. The big guy will be a 6/0 up front and a 4/0 in back, possibly with a shank between them. Both flies will be T-bone variations. -Mike

Glad the fish made it intact. I'm always paranoid when I mail something like that. You nailed the description of my hair-achutes. It's a klinkhammer hook, tan beaver fur abdomen, calf tail para-post and snowshoe rabbit in a dubbing loop for the thorax/hackle. They float great plus I caught about a dozen fish when I tested them out. -Mike

It's on a TMC 8089 #2 which seem to be the same size as everyone else's 1/0.

That's not good. I mailed them back on the 24th. Usually only takes two to three days. If they don't show up by the end of the week I'll send an extra set with my November flies.

Had an interesting day at the river yesterday. When I went to put my waders on I discovered that mice ate the feet out of them. It was in the mid 30's so wet wading was out of the question. I tracked down a decent pair at the cabin rental/tackle place down the road and got back to the river, unfortunately with a lighter wallet. Luckily the fishing was pretty good.

Mailed my orange tag peacock soft hackles this morning.

Looks like I need to track down my spool of 8X. After tying the smallest flies last month I'm probably tying the largest flies this month. I've got my big game jaws back in the Regal and am doing some articulated flies.
