  1. The adult damsel is very fun to fish with. Here in Norway it is not very common but should be in many places. I have tried diffrent patterns and have settled with this: http://www.flytyingforum.com/pattern10761.html That one i tie in both olive and blue/black. It have given me some nice fish that refused other patterns. I tie it like the adult lay on the water, this autumn i made a short film when i was alone one nice afternoon. You can see the movie here, it is is norwegian... Vaket - Fishing with dry damsel Or you can see it on my friends vimeo account here: Vaket on vimeo

  10. When I am bored of troutflies i tie some for salmon that i give away to buddy's who are stupid enough to waste time on fish that don't eat in the rivers :hyst: This one is very inspired by diffrent shrimp patters... I think it will work. But heck! What do I know... Hook: Esmond Drury Gold str. 12. Thread: Orange Lagartun 74den. Tag: Orange mini flatbraid. Tails: Pheasant Spey hackle dyed orange- Eyes: Burnt mono. Rib: Small oval gold. Bodyhackle: Badger cock. Body: Fire Star dub. Shrimp. Fronthackle: Brown/Claret cock.
  11. Hi FlySlinger, Haha, oh yes! Wrapping the hackle around those wings without any thread base and avoiding them to split up and twist is not easy.
  12. Well.. not the type of fly i normally fish with, more the type that is fun to tie. Aurivilllii Quill Hook: Tmc 103BL size Thread: Yellow. Tails: Coq de Leon - Flor de Escoba. Body: Light Olive Turkey Biot. Wings: Quill from Heron wing feather (legaly). Thorax: Super Fine Dubbing, Cinnamon Caddis. Hackle: Medium Barred Ginger.
  13. Hi, Just following up on my Leptophlebia nymph, here is a floating nymph/emerger. Hook: Tmc 102Y size 15. Thread: 12/0, brown. Tails: Dark Dun hackle fibers. Body: Brown Spanflex. Gills: Brown ostrich. Thorax: Mahogany Brown SuperFine Dubbing. Hackle: Dark Dun. Wingcase Aero Dry Wing, Camel.
  14. Aha! Yes the rear hook or abdomen hook as i wrote in the materiallist is a Mustad 94833 size 10. But any dry/wetfly hook will do. I use it for this because i don't tie flies on those mustad hooks any more.
  15. Hi Voodoo, Sorry i don't understand. Stinger...?
  16. Thanks Guys! Please give me feeback if you try it out. I use the tubing in hope to make it more translucent. I know that the damsel dont swim with the legs out like this, but i think it gives the fly more movement and trigger factor. Cheers!
  17. A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by Rune Andre Stokkebekk: Irresistible Damsel One of my favorite patterns for bankfishing in small lakes. The only bad thing with this fly is that the Perch also love it, sometimes they can be very annoying. A year round pattern. I also tie it in a lighter olive shade.
  18. Hi Firetiger, They might look a little too detailed, but they are easy to tie. The brown spanflex is abdomen, rib, wingcase and head. It is not a lot of materials to be tied in. And the fly is very durable. I always pinch down the barb, i always forget this when i take pictures.. But you are right, the fish demand less. It's me who like more and when the fish still says ok.... why not? It's cold in norway and the winter is long, i have plenty of time :-) It is important to have something new to try out on those old ones that have tasted carbon steel before
  19. Leptophlebia Nymphs is very important in European stillwaters. This pattern imitates both the Marginata and Vespertina. RS Leptonymph Hook: Tmc 100 size 14-16. Thread: Brown. Tails: Bronze Mallard. Body/Rib: Spanflex, brown. Gills: Brown ostrich. Wingcase & Eyes: Black Spanflex. Wingcase & top of head: Brown Spanflex. Thorax: Squirrel slf, brown. Legs: Brown mottled hen saddle. Head: Mahogany Brown superfine dub. Here is a lake olive nymph (Cloeon Simile) tied in the same way, without the gills... Hook: Tmc 100 size 14. Thread: Lt. olive. Tails: Olive Partridge. Body: Tying thread & Clear Midge Stretch Tubing. Wingcase and head: Ginger Spanflex. Wingcase & eyes: Black spanflex. Thorax: Light Olive Squirrel Slf Legs: Olive Partridge. Top of thorax well coated with superglue.
  20. Thanks Guys, Here is another one with gills. I use it for the Leptophlebia, by changing color it can imitate many species. RS Leptonymph Hook: Tmc 100 size 14-16. Thread: Brown. Tails: Bronze Mallard. Body/Rib: Spanflex, brown. Gills: Brown ostrich. Wingcase & Eyes: Black Spanflex. Wingcase & top of head: Brown Spanflex. Thorax: Squirrel slf, brown. Legs: Brown mottled hen saddle. Head: Mahogany Brown superfine dub.
  21. An attempt to tie a lake olive or Cloeon Simile.. Hook: Tmc 100 size 14. Thread: Lt. olive. Tails: Olive Partridge. Body: Tying thread & Clear Midge Stretch Tubing. Wingcase and head: Ginger Spanflex. Wingcase & eyes: Black spanflex. Thorax: Light Olive Squirrel Slf Legs: Olive Partridge. Top of thorax well coated with superglue.
  22. Right now it is all about midges. This is a emerger that i'm going to try in a few months. I think that the stretch tubing makes very nice shucks. Type 1: Hook: Tmc 2488 size 16 Thread: 12/0, black. Gills: White cdc, one feather tied in across and trimmed. Shuck: Stretch Tubing, micro squeezed with a hot plier. Back/loop: Nat. brown cdc. Legs: Dark dun deerhair. Body: Black Hare'e ice dub. A simpler version without deerhair legs and with a traditional cdc loop. A few fibers from the loop makes the legs here. Here are some pictures that i took a while ago.. Notice how the wings look as the fly are starting to pump them up. Yes, i have also some emergers with red/rusty cdc on top.
  23. Right now i'm into my favorite streamers, or should i say nymphs. These zonkers are small, from 2,5 to 4,5 cm in total. BH Mini Zonker 1 Hook: TMC 2499 SP BL Size 8. Thread: GSP. Head: 2,3 mm slotted tungsten bead. Tail/Body: Hare'e Ice Dub in the color hares ear. Zonker: Black Barred Rabbit, Gold Variant. Gills: Red zonker. Over wing: Tan Grizzle Marabou. BH Mini Zonker 2 Hook: TMC 2499 SP BL Size 10. Thread: GSP. Head: 2,3 mm slotted tungsten bead. Tail/Body: Hare'e Ice Dub in the color hares ear mixed with cream rabbit. Zonker: Rabbit strips, Gold Variant. Gills: Red zonker. Over wing: Tan Grizzle Marabou. BH Mini Zonker 3 Hook: TMC 2499 SP BL Size 10. Thread: GSP. Head: 2,3 mm slotted tungsten bead. Tail/Body: Hare'e Ice Dub in the color hares ear. Zonker: Squirrel zonker strips, natural grey. Gills: Red zonker. On all i use hologram eyes (3d) in small type 1/8. I like the Super Pearl color best. Head covered with epoxy.
  24. Thanks, If you like a more buggy, hairy body ... replace the antron/poly yarn with some knitting yarn. Use some sandpaper on it for even more hairy look. You can of course add a litte textile glue on the antron body and gently touch the glue with some squirrel or hares dubbing. I stick to antron or poly body because it get easily rid of the water when i cast, and still goes down easily.
  25. Thanks a lot for the kind words. And please let me know about fishing results with it. Terje my man, thank you. Terje is one of the major contributors at my own forum. He is the type of guy that makes forums living. Skilled tier and a very nice guy.
