my first bobbin was not beveled at the ends... it would shred thread almost every fly. make sure you ave a bobbin that has the "flared" tube ends. If that is the case keep that bobbin you can use it for wires IMO they are good for nothing else

Ok so i have never tied a sculpin or seen a live one actually. i've done some studying and looked over many patterns, now i have some questions for all yall... what hooks (size/brand) and how long are ya goin on these I hear 3 to 5 inches is fair just like to see what the majority consensus is. i tried that once while i was camping... i used the rib bones from a tigermusky my silk and just feathers from the birds i could pick off with my wifes BB gun short story shorter hooked into a smally, bone broke at the eye no more natural flys for me. plus i like the shiny stuff :eek:
